“To make profound changes in your life, you either need inspiration or desperation.” – Tony Robbins
Over the course of my life, I’ve learned (oftentimes the hard way) the truth of this quote. Inspiration and/or desperation can be some of our greatest tools to motivate us to take action towards our most transformational goals and be what connects us to our wildest dreams.
Inspiration is how we are able to see possibility and believe in the extraordinary. It’s a major player in our optimism, mastery, creativity and our optimal experiences (flow). It gives us meaning.
Research suggests that the more often you experience inspiration, the more often you will achieve your goals. And the more often you achieve your goals, the more often you will experience moments of inspiration. An upwards cycle of productivity and creativity is born!
On the other end of the spectrum is desperation. While not fun to be in the state of desperation, with a change in mindset you can view this as a major catalyst for change. It can be the ultimate wake up call. It’s when you finally get sick and tired of being sick and tired.
You realize that there is more to life than constant struggle and feelings of unfulfillment. This motivation becomes more powerful than any sort of fear that was holding you back from making the choice to pull yourself out of this funk once and for all. Obviously, none of us would like to to be in a state of desperation, but it’s important to know that we can utilize times of desperation to move us towards inspiration.
I think it is safe to say that we would rather be living an extraordinary, inspiring life. It’s simple for me to explain the type of person that lives and breathes inspiration. They prioritize happiness, health, and wellbeing. They are lifelong learners unafraid to ask why and who have the courage to push boundaries in what we think is possible. They are completely true to themselves even if that means being a little unconventional. They are kind, giving, and know the value they bring to others. Their lives are action-packed, full of adventure. They are the definition of human potential.
This is the type of person I want to be and the type of life that I want to live. I am convinced I’m not the only one. This is why I created The Alive Guide. I wanted to claim a little piece of the internet as a place to share what I learn, discover and uncover what it means to live a life of happiness, health, and adventure.
The Alive Guide is a broad exploration of ideas, information, tactics and methods to help you be, do, or experience anything you want.
I hope to break down the barriers slowing us down, or even stopping us in our tracks in accomplishing our goals, whether that is mental, physical, or lifestyle (time or money) based.
Imagine a world where we all fulfill our potential and life a life greater than we could have ever dreamt of.
It’s more possible than you might think and I’m on a mission to prove it to you.
